Description

Application

The corner connector is mainly used to build suspended plasterboard ceiling frames or wall linings with CD 60/27 profiles. It substantially strengthens the ceiling frame by cross-bracing the CD 60/27 main profiles with noggins fixed at right angles to the longitudinal profiles. In effect, the corner connector works like a crab connector, but instead of a cross joint it makes a one-sided, single-level T-joint.

A suspended ceiling frame braced with T-connected noggins becomes stiffer and stronger in its plane, keeps the whole drywall structure stable and prevents the plasterboard from cracking later.

To install, slide the connector over the end of a CD profile and fix it with a self-tapping screw. Then attach it at right angles to the other profile and screw it to that profile's flange through the special lugs. Corner bracing is not a mandatory part of a suspended ceiling frame, and many less experienced installers skip it to save installation time and material costs. Over time, such savings can reduce the durability and strength of the whole suspended ceiling.
